Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has extended an invitation to President John Dramani Mahama to be the special guest of honour at the Association’s 2025 Awards Ceremony to be held in Kumasi.
Mr Dwumfour gave the invitation, when he led the GJA Executives to call on the President in Accra.
He noted that the Awards night was slated for either the last week of October, 2025 or the first week of November, 2025, based on the President’s availability and convenience.
The GJA Executives were at the Presidency to present a litany of issues to the President for redress.
“Your Excellency, the GJA Award has been held in Accra for 28 years. This year, with my team in consultation with key stakeholders, I’ve decided to move the award from Accra to Kumasi,” Mr Dwumfuor said.
“And, Your Excellency, I’m glad or I’m happy, so much excited to inform you that the King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has agreed to host the awards at Manhyia.”
On his part, President John Dramani Mahama, asked the GJA Executives to make their budget for the 2025 Awards Event available to Mr Felix Ofosu Kwakye, the Presidential Spokesperson and Minister in-charge of Government Communications for consideration.
This, he said would enable the Government to know the kind of support to give towards the organization of the event.
On the land title deeds for the GJA Headquarters landed property, which was allocated to the Association by the Government, during the era of former President John Agyekum Kufuor; President Mahama said the Lands Commission could endure that it was registered in the name of the GJA.
President Mahama, who has trained journalists/communications specialist and a member of the GJA, said the Government and other cooperate entities would support the initiative by the GJA to construct its modern headquarters complex.
