Africa-Press – Ghana. The African Chamber of Content Producers (ACCP) has conferred its highest honour on celebrated casting director Mawuko Kuadzi, elevating him to the rank of Sectoral Content Fellow (SCF), Tier Four of the Africa Image Ambassador Programme, on his arrival in Ghana.
This followed his historic back-to-back Artios Awards victories in the United States.
Mr. Kuadzi, who touched down at Kotoka International Airport was met by a delegation of Executive Council members from the ACCP led by veteran filmmakers Mr. Roger Quartey and Mr. Fred Nii Amugi.
The distinguished actors presented the official citation of honour on behalf of the Executive Council, marking the first time a professional in the field of Casting has received the Chamber’s highest distinction since the programme’s inception.
Speaking at the brief arrival ceremony, Mr. Roger Quartey, who has discovered more creative talents than any filmmaker in the history of Ghana and currently serves as Chairman of the Cultural and Media Sector of the Chamber’s Image Ambassador Programme, expressed profound pride in Kuadzi’s accomplishments.
“Mawuko represents everything an Africa Image Ambassador stands for,” Mr. Quartey said. “He has not only excelled on the world’s most competitive stages but has done so while carrying the flag of Ghana and Africa with dignity. I encourage him to continue reaching higher and doing even more for this continent. The path is now brighter for those coming behind him because of what he has achieved.”
Veteran actor Mr. Fred Nii Amugi, reading from the official citation, delivered the opening words of the honour:
“The Executive Council of the African Chamber of Content Producers takes great pleasure in conferring upon Mawuko Kuadzi the honorary rank of Sectoral Content Fellow, the highest distinction within the Africa Image Ambassador Programme’s four-tier professional certification system.”
He later added “Mr. Kuadzi becomes the first professional in the field of Casting to receive this honour since the programme’s inception.
“His unprecedented achievement of back-to-back Artios Awards—the casting profession’s highest international honour, presented by the Casting Society of America—marks a historic milestone for African creative professionals.”
The ceremony was witnessed by a large section of the media and members of the creative sector, who gathered to welcome the award-winning casting director home following his second consecutive victory at the 41st Artios Awards held at The Edison Ballroom in New York on February 26, 2026.
An emotional Mawuko Kuadzi expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Chamber and the assembled team for the unexpected honour at his moment of arrival.
“I am deeply grateful to the African Chamber of Content Producers, to the veteran leaders, and to everyone standing here today,” Kuadzi said. “People like Mr. Roger Quartey carved the path long before many of us came along.
They made things a bit easier for our journey through the sacrifices they made and the doors they opened. For them to see me as a credible Africa Image Ambassador worthy of carrying their torch forward, that means more than any award I could ever receive.”
Mawuko Kuadzi made history in 2025 as the first African ever to win an Artios Award since its inception more than four decades ago, claiming Best Casting for a Commercial for the NFL Super Bowl commercial “Born to Play”.
He followed this historic achievement with a second victory in 2026, defeating strong international contenders from Japan and Germany to win Best International Feature for his casting work on the acclaimed film “The Fisherman”. The Fisherman had previously won Best Ghanaian Film at the REFFA Awards and secured the Lead Actor prize for Best Actor in Africa.
Speaking to the media after the ceremony, President of the African Chamber of Content Producers, Nana Dwomoh-Doyen Benjamin, underscored the significance of the elevation.
“Mawuko’s back-to-back Artios victories are not personal achievements, they are continental milestones. With this new rank comes a huge responsibility: the responsibility to mentor more young people who will, like him, represent Africa positively through content and conduct. The Africa Image Ambassador program is about building a pipeline of excellence, and Mawuko now stands at the front of that pipeline as an example and a guide for the next generation.”
The citation noted that Kuadzi’s “unprecedented achievement of back-to-back Artios Awards marks a historic milestone for African creative professionals” and recognizes his “body of work that has fundamentally expanded the horizons of possibility for African creative professionals worldwide.”
The Chamber is expected to hold a formal investiture ceremony for Mawuko Kuadzi’s new rank in the coming days, where he will be formally robed as a Sectoral Content Fellow and receive the full insignia of the honour.
Mawuko Kuadzi’s upcoming projects include the television series “Kismet” scheduled to be shot in Nigeria, “Echoes of Unity” in Uganda, and the Africa Monologue Challenge reset in Ghana, further strengthening cross-border collaboration within Africa’s creative industry.
