Two aspirants who were billed to take part in tomorrow’s parliamentary primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have chickened out of the race.
This comes less than 24-hours after campaigning for the Parliamentary candidate slots for NDC officially ends per the election guidelines of the party reports.
Bismark Ofosu Amponsah and Emmanuel Mbeebi disclosed that they are no longer contesting even though they have all gone through balloting.
While Emmanuel Mbeebi has realised it’s not his time to lead his party in the area, he pledged his support to Mark Oliver Kevor.
The other Bismark Ofosu Amponsah also says after thorough reflection and counseling on his chances, he wants to step down but would support anyone who emerges the winner in tomorrow’s election.
The aspirants in order of balloting were; Joseph Appiah Boateng, Bismarck Ofosu Amponsah, Emmanuel Mbeebi, Mark Oliver Kevor and Eric Osei Owusu.
The former Eastern Regional Secretary for NDC, Mark Oliver Kevor is now in the competition with the incumbent MP, Hon. Eric Osei Owusu for the slot.
While some people believe it’s going to be a two-horse race competition, others think it will be a cool chop for Mark Oliver Kevor who resigned from his position as the party’s secretary to contest in this year’s primaries.
