Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana defender Alexander Djiku picked up an injury while on duty at Fernabahce and is yet to join the Black Stars camp for preparations ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against Mali.

The centre-back alongside Osman Bukari was the only player absent from the team’s camp during their first training session.

According to the Ghana Football Association, while Osman Bukari is expected to join his teammates on Saturday, Alexander Djiku is uncertain about when to join since his team demands a one or two-day observation of his fitness to be sure of released for the national assignment.

Djiku is being assessed after picking an arm injury in the closing stages of the Turkish Super Lig,” the Ghana Football Association explained.

The Black Stars will train for a few more days at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon before travelling to Bamako, Mali, next week for the clash on June 6. They will return to face the Central African Republic on June 10 in Kumasi. Ghana, currently fourth in Group I of the CAF World Cup qualifiers, trailing Comoros, Mali, and Madagascar are aiming to turn things around.

With their World Cup qualifying hopes on the line, the Black Stars are keen to secure victories in both upcoming fixtures.
