Africa-Press – Ghana. AS Monaco has confirmed that Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.
This ACL injury would likely rule him out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to be hosted in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
The centerback sustained the injury in the final moments of Monaco’s match against Olympique Lyonnais, the club said in a statement posted on social media.
Medical examinations conducted after the game revealed the severity of the damage.
“The club will support Mohammed throughout his recovery and is behind him all the way. Stay strong, Sarki, we’re with you,” the club statement said.
The 26-year-old has been a key figure for the Black Stars and was expected to feature prominently in Ghana’s campaign for the 2026 World Cup tournament.
Black Stars Coach Otto Addo is expected to monitor the situation and possibly find a replacement ahead of the international friendly against Germany in March 2026.
