Africa-Press – Ghana. The Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Assembly in the Bono East Region has secured 11 acres of land for the construction of a 24-hour economy market, Mr Thomas Mas’ud, the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has disclosed.
He said the Assembly remained committed to constructing the market to create more job opportunities, stimulate economic growth and promote progressive development.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Atebubu, Mr Mas’ud explained that the proposed standard market aligned with the government’s 24-hour economy programme aimed at expanding employment opportunities.
He reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to implementing the 24-hour economy policy and expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people of the area for releasing the land at a strategic location for the project.
However, he indicated that the Assembly would require an additional seven acres of land for the future expansion of the market.
Mr Mas’ud stated that upon completion, the market would include a police station to ensure 24-hour security, a fire station to respond to emergencies, a pre-school facility for early childhood education, a clinic, pharmaceutical shops, restaurants and a financial facility.
He added that the proposed Women’s Development Bank, which is expected to provide soft loans to women traders, would commence operations alongside the 24-hour economy market. He assured that the government remained focused on reducing poverty through job creation.
