Africa-Press – Ghana. Speaker of Parliament Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin will launch a maiden Parliamentary Practice and Procedural Week on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The week-long event aims to enhance the operational efficiency and procedural knowledge within Ghana’s legislative management framework.
Mr Bagbin made the announcement during a parliamentary sitting at Parliament House in Accra and emphasised the importance of deepening understanding of parliamentary procedures among stakeholders and the public to ensure accountability and transparency in legislative management.
The event would bring together a diverse group of participants including current Members of Parliament, former legislators, clerks to Parliament, and staff of the parliamentary service.
These stakeholders would engage in interactive sessions aimed at demystifying the workings of Parliament and fostering transparency in legislative processes.
Activities lined up for the week include seminars on legislative practices and reforms, roundtable discussions featuring experienced lawmakers and parliamentary staff and public engagement sessions to promote civic education and participation
Speaker Bagbin extended a warm invitation to civil society organisations, students, and interested individuals to actively participate in the event.
He underscored the value of public involvement in strengthening democratic governance and encouraged attendees to take advantage of the opportunity to learn and contribute.
“This initiative is not only for those within the corridors of Parliament,” Bagbin stated. “It is a national exercise in democratic education, and I urge all stakeholders to come forward and be part of this historic week,” Mr Bagbin stated.
The Practice and Procedural Week is expected to become an annual fixture in Ghana’s parliamentary calendar, serving as a cornerstone for legislative capacity building and public engagement.
Activities for the week-long event would end on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
