Africa-Press – Ghana. Barcelona are working on an alternative transfer strategy in the event that they are not able to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The Norwegian’s €75m release clause kicks in later this year and Barça have been trying to sell their project to Haaland in the last year, with Joan Laporta ‘obsessed’ with completing a deal for the forward.

However, the Blaugrana are not the only side interested in his services and he could wind up somewhere other than Camp Nou by the end of the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid have the resources to put together a more lucrative financial package for Haaland, while Barcelona would not have the money to sign any other players this year if they’re the ones who manage to sign him.

Sport write that Barça are preparing for the possibility that Haaland heads elsewhere, with ‘Plan B’ consisting of signing another striker as well as a top defender instead.

Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak – who was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in January – leads the names of alternative striking options for Barcelona. The Sweden international came close to signing for the Catalan giants last summer.

Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde is also being eyed by the top brass at Camp Nou, and head coach Xavi is a keen admirer of the Frenchman.

90min revealed recently that Chelsea will also reignite their interest in Kounde this summer after they couldn’t quite thrash out a deal with Sevilla last year. In turn, Barça have been strongly linked with signing Blues defenders Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen on free transfers.
