Africa-Press – Ghana. In another groundbreaking move, betPawa has extended the Locker Room Bonus initiative to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League for the 2025-26 season.
betPawa on Friday, August 8, 2025, announced an enhanced partnership package with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) worth a staggering $380,843 for both the men’s and women’s leagues.
Under this new partnership, winning team players in Ghana’s two elite competitions in both the men’s and women’s leagues would receive instant cash rewards after every match.
Madam Borah Ndanyungu, betPawa’s Head of local Marketing & CSR, lauded the GFA for their commitment to improving the financial well-being of the players in both the men’s and women’s leagues.
She expressed delight in widening the scope of the initiative, noting that the brand is passionate about driving excitement and professionalism across Ghana’s football ecosystem.
Madam Borah was hopeful that this initiative would empower more footballing talent and also enhance the performance of the players in both elite leagues.
Mr Prosper Harisson Addo, the General Secretary of the GFA, described the move as a landmark motivation for the Women’s League.
“This is a clear statement that women’s football is a priority, and we are committed to investing in its growth,” he said.
Mr Addo was excited about the equal bonus to be enjoyed by players in both the men’s and women’s leagues and believes it would make the game more competitive.
Mr Nii Armah Ashong-Katai, Regional Manager – CSR and Sports Development for West and Southern Africa, stated that they would introduce a digital system to help facilitate payment of these bonuses.
He added that they were committed to enhancing local football and have supported clubs as well as the construction of an AstroTurf at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.
The 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League is expected to kick off in October, with the Locker Room Bonus set to feature from Matchday One, while the Ghana Premier League would start in the second week of September.
