Africa-Press – Ghana. Black Starlets winger Joseph Narbi has confidently assured Ghanaians of victory in the 2024 WAFU U-17 Championship.
Ghana kicked off their campaign with a remarkable 5-1 triumph over Ivory Coast at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, with Narbi shining brightly by netting two exceptional goals.
Godfred Sarpong, Harve Gbafa, and Mark Kagawa Mensah also contributed to the resounding victory, positioning Ghana strongly for qualification to the semi-finals.
“We know Ivory Coast is a stronger side but we respect the other teams. We go into every game with the mentality of winning, so we will be ready for Benin,” said the young sensation after the match.
Looking ahead to their upcoming fixture against Benin, Narbi emphasised the team’s focus on securing qualification to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. While a win or draw against Benin would suffice to advance to the final four, Narbi highlighted that the ultimate objective is to qualify for next year’s tournament, with reaching the final being satisfactory.
“The message I have for Ghanaians is that I promise them that we will win the trophy for them so they will be happy for us to also be happy,” he added.
