Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister has inaugurated a-23-Member Council to spearhead the development of the region.
The composition of the council comprises representatives from the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and other stakeholders and were tasked to also monitor and supervise the execution of development projects.
They also have the oversight responsibility to coordinate plans and programmes aligned with the plans of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).
Mr Antwi sworn the council members into office during the Maiden Medium Term Development Planning meeting of the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council in Techiman and asked them to work hard to improve security.
He commended the amicable resolution of a perennial chieftaincy dispute in Nkoranza and Kintampo and expressed the hope that other disputes in the area would also be settled to strengthen the prevailing peace of the region.
Mr Antwi lauded the contributions of stakeholders towards stemming illegal mining activities in the region and called for such support to control recurring incidents of armed robbery on the highways.
Mr Gyan Lamptey, the Bono East Regional Environmental Health Officer expressed concern about poor sanitation and waste management and urged the people to help preserve the environment.
