Africa-Press – Ghana. Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have announced that Lionel Messi has tested positive for coronavirus.
Messi is one of four PSG players to have tested positive for the virus with the likes of Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala on the list.
“The 4 players that tested positive for Covid-19 are Leo Messi, Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala. They are currently in isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocol,” a statement from PSG confirmed.
PSG have also revealed Neymar is set to continue his recovery from an ankle injury he picked while on international duty with Brazil.
“Neymar JR will continue his treatment in Brazil until 9 January with members of the Paris Saint-Germain medical and performance staff. His return to training is still expected to be in about 3 weeks,” the statement concluded.
The Les Parisiens will be up against Vannes on Monday in the Coupe de France round of 16 tie.
