Africa-Press – Ghana. The Government and People of Burkina Faso have named a major street in the capital, Ouagadougou, after former Ghanaian leader, Jerry John Rawlings.
The naming of the street formed part of the unveiling of the statue and Memorial Park of the late Burkinabe Leader, Captain Thomas Sankara in the capital Ouagadougou.
The late former President Rawlings was a close friend of the late Sankara, who was assassinated in a military coup d’état in 1987.
The naming of the street was witnessed by a Family Delegation of former President Rawlings, which was led by his daughter Madam Yaa Asantewaa Agyeman-Rawlings, Executive Director of the JJ Rawlings Foundation and his son, Mr Kimathi Rawlings.
