Africa-Press – Ghana. The non-overnmental organisation, Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) Ghana, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) to champion the entrepreneurial rights of young women through advocacy and policy engagement.

The MoU signed, December 8, 2025, would have both organisations undertake advocacy against gender stereotypes and promote equity for female entrepreneurs.

They will thus be sharing relevant experience, expertise, data and best practice to guide interventions.

A release copied to Ghana News Agency said GEA would train CAMFED Association (CAMA) members, entrepreneurs and CAMFED clients desirous of starting up or growing their enterprises.

“Importantly, the partnership will see CAMFED Ghana and GEA deepen the work of the District Business Committees while mainstreaming child protection and safeguarding practices in skills development training of Ghanaian youth,” the release said.

“It is the CAMFED’s firm belief that the working partnership with GEA will be a huge step towards promoting the entrepreneurial initiatives of the young women we serve while advancing the micro, small and medium enterprises sector in Ghana as a whole.”

The GEA is the government agency dedicated to promoting and developing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ghana.

Act 1043 mandates GEA to coordinate, implement and monitor the activities of the MSMEs sector in Ghana.

GEA, among others, provides advisory services to youth interested in starting a business, and also provide technical support in accessing loans and development of business plans through its Business Advisory Centres (BACs).

MSMEs account for a significant share of economic activity in Ghana and play a catalytic role in achieving the development goals for production.

SMEs are the backbone of Ghana’s economy, consistently contributing around 70% to the GDP and making up about 92% of all businesses, according to the Ministry of Finance.

The Government considers the MSMEs sector as having the potential to contribute substantially to reducing unemployment rate as well as catalysing the growth of the economy.
