Carlo Ancelotti reveals Real Madrid's ongoing 'weakness'

Africa-Press – Ghana. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that his side’s ‘weakness’ is their ongoing struggle to turn up in the first half of games.

Real emerged 3-0 winners over Alaves in La Liga on Saturday night but had to wait until after half-time to properly find their rhythm and get the decisive goals.

“We’ve spoken about it…the fact that it’s hard for us to go into games with the necessary intensity. It’s a weakness we’ve had, and let’s hope we fix it,” Ancelotti reflected to the press post-game.

Whistling was heard from the stands at the Bernabeu as the team left the pitch at the end of the first half. Ancelotti added that he and the players agree that it wasn’t good enough.

“The fans evaluate the game we’re playing. They didn’t like the game we played in the first half. We agreed with the fans, nobody in the dressing room was happy with the first half. We had to do more,” the coach explained.

“They want the team to win the league. We had a bad game on Tuesday [against PSG], they’ve seen a reaction and that’s good.”

Real now have the rest of the week to prepare to face Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Saturday. They will then host Real Sociedad before returning to Europe for the crucial Champions League return leg against PSG on Wednesday 9 March.
