Africa-Press – Ghana. The Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC), a Charismatic English Assembly, on Sunday climaxed its 40th anniversary celebrations with a rich blend of inspirational music, drama, and uplifting sermons.
Founded on April 7, 1985, with just about 100 members, CCC has grown exponentially over the decades, now drawing thousands of congregants each week.
To recount the Church’s remarkable journey, children from the CCC Children’s Ministry performed a humorous and heartwarming play depicting the early days of the ministry.
The skit featured a young Reverend Ransford Obeng portrayed with his signature afro hairstyle and three-piece suit riding his iconic “Tomos” motorbike across Ghana as he evangelised and shared the Gospel.
The celebration was further enlivened by stirring musical performances from CCC’s in-house music groups: The Heralds, The CCC Mass Choir, and Charisma.
Their melodic renditions paid tribute to the church’s humble beginnings and its incredible transformation into a global ministry, with over 600 branches now established worldwide.
Reverend Ransford Obeng, General Overseer of CCC, expressed deep gratitude to the chiefs and residents of Asokore Mampong and Oforikrom, saying that the two communities gave the church a sound footing.
He also acknowledged the presence of dignitaries, including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and the Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, Mr. Michael Kwasi Aidoo, who joined the congregation in fellowship.
In a moment of solemn reflection, the congregation observed a minute of silence in memory of the departed, including Rev. Obeng’s late wife, Mrs Joyce Obeng, who played a pivotal role in building the ministry alongside him.
“CCC has thrived for 40 years because the people of this city and this church believed in and supported the vision God gave me—beginning from a conference I attended in Singapore, where I met my mentor, the late Reverend Rick Seaward,” Rev. Obeng shared emotionally, his voice filled with gratitude.
Delivering the sermon during both the first and second services, Reverend Jeremy Seaward, Head Pastor of Victory Family Center in Singapore, urged CCC members to emulate the spirit and devotion of the early Corinthian Church.
He emphasised that the Corinthians were among the first to be called Christians because of how closely they mirrored Christ—not just in belief, but in character.
“The Corinthian Church stood out because it had a clear vision, a structured process of developing faith, and leaders dedicated to fulfilling the Great Commission,” Rev. Seaward noted.
The anniversary celebration culminated in the cutting of a specially designed 40th anniversary cake.
The symbolic gesture was led by Rev. Ransford Obeng, joined by church leaders, the Ashanti Regional Minister, and the Oforikrom MP, marking a joyful conclusion to a momentous milestone in the church’s history.
