Africa-Press – Ghana. Chalice Royal Ladies, a women social group based in Ho in the Volta Region has donated some items to New Horizon Foundation of the Blind.
The items included bags of rice, cooking oil, tin tomatoes, beans, soup and soft drinks and biscuits.
Madam Ida Ama Odzor, the President of the company, told Ghana News Agency that the donation is part of their social duties, as well as a celebration of Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s birthday.
She advised parents to provide their disabled children with equal opportunity and help them in their education so that they can reach their full potential
Madam Odzor stated that persons with disabilities have significant potential that society should capitalise on in order to advance socioeconomic growth.
The President appealed to other organisations to support the centre.
Mr Eric Kwabla Ofori, the Director of the Foundation, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the group for their care and assistance.
He urged other charitable institutions to assist the vulnerable in society, stating that the country required these individuals and their abilities for progress.
The Director stated that the facility currently has 35 children and that food is a huge difficulty.
He said they were sustained by generous donations from benevolent organisations, philanthropists, and individuals.
Mr Ofori was hopeful that the donation would signal the start of a new connection between the centre and the group for future assistance.
