Chelsea injury crisis worsens ahead of West Ham clash

Africa-Press – Ghana. Chelsea continued their march to the English Premier League title on Wednesday night as they recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win away to Watford.

Goals from Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech on either side of a Dennis Emmanuel strike ensured the Blues bounced back to winning ways following their 1-1 draw against Manchester United over the weekend.

The win however came at a cost as Trevor Chalobah pulled up with what seemed like a hamstring injury, and is now doubtful for the weekend clash against West Ham.

Speaking after the match, Thomas Tuchel gave a brief update on the youngster, who is enjoying a good season so far.

“The next game is coming on Saturday and I am most worried about the injury to Trevoh. We got a lot of hits today. The doctor was on the field 20 times to treat players. It is a big loss with Trevoh and we have already some injured key players so I am a bit worried because the next game is Saturday at 12.30,”

His injury means the Blues will have to deal with a number of absentees this weekend.

Here is a list of players currently out;

Ben Chilwell

Reece James

Jorginho

N’Golo Kante

Matteo Kovacic

Timo Werner

In addition, Romelu Lukaku is yet to gain match fitness, having missed seven games with an injury.

The striker has come off the bench in Chelsea’s last two matches and could be in line to make his first start at the London Stadium.
