Chosen Home Defends Functional Fitness Tournament Title

Africa-Press – Ghana. Chosen Home foundation orphanage has defended their title in the second edition of the Dawn of the Orphanages Functional Fitness Tournament held at the Zulka Astro Turf Park, Dansoman.

The team, who emerged winners of the maiden edition accumulated a total of 150 points, beating Enough Grace, Great James Academy and Shalom of Zion respectively in a tough race.

The Dawn of the Orphanages Functional Fitness Tournament, organized by Functional Sports League Ghana seeks to promote national pursuit of an active and positive lifestyle change through functional fitness, nutrition and mental health.

Participants were taken through a three-hour intense fitness test full of endurance, strength, body weight, power and many others.

Mr. Charles Owusu Ansah, President of Functional Sports League Ghana speaking in an interview said the tournament was an initiative to discover the hidden talents of the kids whereas bringing out their potentials to societies.

“This is an initiative to discover talents, potential, and to bring out these kids to society. We want society to see them and see what they have. We want to groom them for athletic development and possibly get them gingered for international competitions.”

He said the participants had been training for the past three weeks as a way of getting them prepared for the second edition.

He revealed that Functional Sport was on the verge of becoming one of the known sports in the country since being out doored in 2023.

“We believe in developing grassroot sports, so we are beginning with the children. After the orphanages we are going into the schools then the national championship for the adults,” he said.

He called on corporate bodies to support the federation in its quest to promote healthy living among individuals.

Mr. Walid, Manager of Chosen Home, expressed excitement having won the tournament for the second time in a row.

Winners were presented with trophies, medals and goodies from Electroland Ghana.
