Africa-Press – Ghana. Cocoa farmers in, and around Agona Otsenkorang have applauded Priority View Homes, an Accra based construction firm for the offer to provide them with affordable housing to help give them decent houses.

Speaking in an interview at their various communities in the Agona West Municipality, the farmers overwhelmingly welcomed the initiative.

They expressed joy about the decent housing project, stressing that it was long overdue but has come at an opportune time to serve as motivation and encouragement for all the farmers.

Mr Paul Akyerem , former Assemblyman for Otsenkorang Electoral Area and a prominent cocoa farmer, told that the decent housing project was one of the best moves by the construction company.

He said it was unfortunate that many farmers were not aware of the laudable idea and hoped that all cocoa farmers would be brought on board.

It would be recalled that on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the CEO of Priority View Homes, Mr Eric Affaidu , cut the sod for construction work to begin for a decent and affordable housing project for cocoa farmers at Dahom in the Gomoa Central District of the Central region.

According to him, the affordable housing project would be replicated in all cocoa farming communities throughout the country.

Mr Affaidu explained that the farmers would pay for the cost of the house in instalments, each time they harvested their cocoa.

The former Assemblyman for Otsenkorang praised the CEO and his company for the bold initiative which he said would be a bigger booster for cocoa farmers and go a long way to assist them to expand their farms.

Mr Akyerem reiterated calls on cocoa farmers, especially the youth to try as much as possible to enter active cocoa faming and increase their acreages.

He said this was the greatest opportunity for them to maximize profit from cocoa.

Mr Samuel Obiri, another prominent farmer at Agona Edukorley said the decision of the company was “fantastic” because cocoa farmers will at the end of the day, have decent homes to lay their heads.

He called on the Central Government and other interested in Ghana’s cocoa industry to rally behind the construction firm to build decent affordable housing for the farmers.

Mr Obiri was optimistic that farmers in and around Otsenkorang, Ahomadonko and other communities in the area including purchasing clerks (PCs) would sell the message about the importance of the project.

Mr David Gyifa, a farmer at Nyamedikan Village, near Agona Otsenkorang told that the housing project was a laudable one to serve as a motivation for the majority who had cut down their cocoa farms to replant.

He expressed the hope that the youth would take advantage to enter cocoa farming and other farmers further increase their acreages to benefit from the affordable housing to assist them have decent places for themselves and their families.
