The National Coordinator for Ghana Muslim Mission Women’s Fellowship, Hajia Mariama Obeng has described the creation of the Zongo Ministry by the government as a bogus venture by the government.

According to her, the Ministry has not yielded any results for Muslims and the Ghana Muslim mission in particular.

She therefore tasked the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to as matter of urgency scrap the Zongo Ministry and replace it with a Christian Ministry since Muslims don’t need any Islamic education from the government.

“We don’t have to sit down for people to come and tell us to educate our children meanwhile Islam  talks about education, so sometimes when I hear of Zongo Ministry or Minister I feel a bit awkward because Islam has taught us what to do and how to keep our home and the community as well as how to live with our neighbors among others…so there is no need for Zongo Ministry” she frowned.

The aggrieved National Coordinator for Ghana Muslim Mission Women’s Fellowship dropped  at the 12th National women’s conference at Enyan Denkyira in the Central Region covered by Africa-press.com/ghana/ observed that the creation of the ministry amounts to waste of resources..

The conference was organized with the aim of mobilizing women and educating them on their roles and responsibilities. It was also to enhance the teaching of the Islam as stated in the Holy Quran. About 600 women from all walks of life attended.

Hajia Obeng stated that Islam has rules and regulations governing every woman, as a result, Islam holds the women in very high esteem and urged women in Islam to be different in everything that they do.

According to her, Ghana Muslim Mission Women’s Fellowship doesn’t support child marriage but they support what Islam says so as a result “every girl who has attained the marriageable age has  a role that she fellows”.

Hajia Obeng took a swipe at Muslim parents especially women who force their teenage girls into early marriages and urged them to put a stop to it since the victims have to consent before the marriage can be contracted.

“If the child doesn’t give her consent, parents have no right to contract any marriage for their child”.

Earlier, the Ghana Muslim Mission Women’s Fellowship visited the Ajumako Hospital to present cash and items worth GH¢4, 000 as part of the conference’s decision to assist the hospital and the patients with basic needs.

The leader stated that the items which include detergents, two bags of rice, bags of maize, cleaning materials, toilet rolls and used clothes would be beneficial to the hospital.

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Head of Pharmacy, Anita Essuman thanked the Ghana Muslim mission Women’s Fellowship for their kind gesture which according to her will go a long way to help the hospital since the hospital is facing financial as a result of unpaid National Health Insurance bills
