Africa-Press – Ghana. A storm of curses and controversy has erupted following the Ghana Boxing Authority’s (GBA) decision to overturn the verdict of Emmanuel Quartey’s victory in a recent league bout.

The unexpected reversal has triggered outrage, particularly among female supporters of the Bronx Boxing Gym, who firmly believe that the split decision initially awarded to Quartey should remain unchanged.

During a press briefing, the Bronx Boxing Gym made their stance clear, expressing strong disagreement with the changes imposed by the GBA. They argued that the GBA’s decision-making process did not adhere to the Authority’s constitution and should not nullify the outcome of the fight.

The controversy stems from Emmanuel Quartey’s victory over Jerry Lartey at the Bukum boxing arena last Sunday. Quartey, representing the Bronx Gym, had secured a split decision victory over Lartey from the Ghana Army after six rounds of intense boxing.

Rumors suggest that the Master scorecard keeper, J. Annan, may have admitted to making a mistake, leading to the GBA’s decision to alter the outcome. However, the Bronx Gym team claims that they have not been officially contacted regarding this matter.

Head coach of the Bronx gym, Carl Lokko, expressed his disbelief and frustration, labelling GBA President Abraham Neequaye Kotei as a “big liar.” He questioned the capacity in which the President changed the verdict, stating, “None of the Judges agree with what the President is saying, so what capacity did he change the verdict.”

Curses unleashed on to the Ghana Boxing Authority President Abraham Neequaye Kotei after overturning Emmanuel Quartey’s victory verdict last Sunday.
