Africa-Press – Ghana. Dr Afia Agyinsam Amponsah, a renowned health practitioner, will spearhead Ghana’s biggest women’s health screening campaign next month, aiming to curb preventable deaths and set a world record.

The initiative, branded “#3000on30”, would deliver 30 hours of free medical checks for thousands of women at Accra’s Efua Sutherland Park on January 3-4, 2026.

There would be free screenings for conditions including hypertension, diabetes and cervical cancer, alongside education on preventive care.

Speaking at the presser, Dr Amponsah said the event would also attempt to break the record for the largest female health screening exercise globally.

“This is about saving lives and restoring dignity.” Good health is not merely the absence of disease; it is the presence of knowledge and care,” she stated.

Dr Amponsah said the campaign was inspired by years of witnessing families lose loved ones to conditions that could have been prevented through early detection.

She urged volunteers, healthcare workers and sponsors to join the campaign.

Madam Mary Amoah Coleman, former President of the Medical Women Association of Ghana, welcomed the initiative and urged female health practitioners to support the worthy cause.

“Women’s health is critical. Early screening can prevent complications, and I think the most important thing is that some women’s lives would be saved through the screening,” she said.

The event is supported by Lister Hospital, Verna Water, Top-up Pharmacy, Trux, 40 Analytics, the Publisher Newspaper and the National Health Insurance Scheme.
