Taking His Father’s Political Success One Step Further

His father, Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, is one of the most iconic political figures to come from the country’s North East Region. He was a highly active political figure, from the secretary to the Mamprusi Native Authority to the first Chairman of the Council of State in the fourth Republic.

Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia’s work in forming the Northern People’s Party is recognized nationwide. He, alongside other political icons, became the Party’s founder and pushed for the development of the north.

Later, his party combined with those in the south to create the unstoppable United Party, renamed the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in more recent years.
