Africa-Press – Ghana. Assembly Members in the Ellembelle District have expressed sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight illustrious sons of Ghana.
A statement issued and signed by Mr Charles Kwesi, Presiding Member of the Ellembelle District Assembly, extended heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, the Vice President, Government of Ghana, the bereaved families, and all affected by the tragedy.
The statement said: “Ghana has suffered a great loss with the deaths of dedicated public servants, including the late Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, who until his sudden demise was the Defence Minister, and Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology.
“We also mourn Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice Chairman, Mr Samuel Aboagye, Deputy National NADMO Coordinator, Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah.”
The Assembly expressed the hope that their contributions to the nation would not be forgotten, but serve as lessons for generation unborn, the statement noted.
The statement urged the public to avoid sensationalism, respect the privacy of the bereaved families, and report only accurate, verified information.
“We stand in solidarity with all Ghanaians as we observe the three days of mourning and we pray the Good Lord Almighty will give them a resting place till we meet again.”
