Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Michael Amponsah Frimpong, Managing Director of FMB Farms, has called on government to scale up investment in agriculture in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, with a strong focus on ginger production.

According to him, the district possessed immense agricultural potential that could significantly contribute to Ghana’s economic growth if the sector was given the needed attention.

He made the call when the District Chief Executive, Mrs. Grace Agyemang Asamoah visited FMB Farms as part of efforts to strengthen partnerships with businesses in the district.

He noted that, with the right support, Atwima Kwanwoma could reduce dependence on foreign assistance, while positioning ginger cultivation as a major economic driver capable of creating jobs and improving livelihoods.

Mr. Frimpong explained that agriculture offered a wide value chain from production and processing to marketing, which, when fully developed, could become a powerful engine of growth for both the district and the nation.

He urged government and relevant stakeholders to prioritise investments across the agricultural value chain to unlock its full benefits.

He also appealed to the District Assembly and residents to adopt a culture of tree planting to beautify the environment and make communities safer and more conducive for living.

Touching on local development, the agribusiness entrepreneur encouraged the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mrs. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, to deepen collaboration with businesses operating within the district and leverage their expertise and resources to fast-track development.

Mr. Frimpong assured the DCE of his personal commitment to the progress of Atwima Kwanwoma and pledged to mobilise fellow business executives to support development initiatives in the area.

Additionally, he called on the government to urgently address the poor road network in the district, stressing that good roads are essential for attracting investors and boosting economic activities.

Mrs Asamoah commended the Chief Executive Officer of FMB Farms for establishing the enterprise in the district, noting that, the farm was contributing significantly to the local economy.

She further pledged the Assembly’s continued support for local businesses, with the goal of transforming the district into a vibrant economic hub.
