Africa-Press – Ghana. Assembly Members of the Juaben Municipal Assembly have confirmed the President John Mahama’s, Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, as the first female Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
Twenty-four (24) out of the 25 Assembly Members voted Yes to confirm her nomination, marking a historic milestone as the first female MCE of the municipality.
She was sworn into office by the Juaben Circuit Court Judge, Ms. Rosemarie Afua-Asante as the new MCE.
Ahead of the election, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ashanti Regional Organiser, Mr. Isham Alhassan, who represented the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, urged the Assembly Members to confirm the nominee in a united manner to project a good image of the municipality.
The MCE, in her acceptance speech, thanked the President for nominating her and pledged to operate on the vision of the President to reset Juaben Municipality.
She thanked the national, regional, and constituency executives for their unwavering support as well as the chiefs and Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in her.
The MCE, who contested as parliamentary candidate (PC) on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections, said she was familiar with most of the problems faced by the people.
She mentioned challenges confronting the education, agriculture, health and road sectors, and pledged her commitment to tackle them to improve the lives of the people.
She expressed her readiness to serve the people of Juaben Municipality and promised to run an open-door administration and all-inclusive governance to ensure rapid development in the area.
Mr. Francis Owusu Achiaw, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaben Constituency, expressed his readiness to work in collaboration with the MCE to champion the development of the area.
He applauded the members of the Assembly for adhering to his advice ahead of the election to ensure a one-touch victory.
