An executive council aspirant and president of division league side Kpando Heart of Lions Mr. Randy Abbey has cautioned persons of the football fraternity affectionately referred to as football people not to repeat mistake made in the past.

According to him, years gone by person in football were of the opinion that they are only responsible and accountable to the about 120 delegates who vote for them this he says its wrong.

He says they can’t behave as if they have nothing to do with members outside the association and expect to go to the corporate world seeking for sponsorship since it doesn’t work that way.

“We had a certain mindset that our level of accountability was just to the delegates which was a mistake we committed in past”

“Unfortunately, in the past we thought we were only accountable to the football people (120 delegates) and not the corporate world”

“But at the end of the day, we go to the corporate bodies which we feel we aren’t accountable to for sponsorship”

“This should tell you that, in looking at transparency and accountability you can’t solely rely on the 120 people ”

“The more you are seen to be transparent and accountable, the people would want to do business with you”

“You can’t create the impression that you aren’t accountable to the corporate world and still want them to pump money into your association ,it doesn’t work like that” he advised.
