Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus made a brief appearance for Ajax as they exited the competition after losing to Benfica on Tuesday night.

Ajax were stunned at the Johann Cruyff arena by the Portuguese side courtesy of Darwin Nunez goal in the 77th minute.

The Uruguayan beat Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana to head in a whipped free-kick with 13 minutes to go.

The Eredivisie giants exited the competition after losing the two-leg tie by 3-2.

Mohammed Kudus made his second appearance in the competition this season coming on as a substitute late in stoppage time.

Injury had ruled him out for most part of the group stages where Ajax topped their group to qualify to the round of 16.

The 21-year-old came on as a substitute for Jurrien Timber.

Mohammed Kudus since making a return from injury has made nine appearance for the club scoring one goal.

The former Nordsjaelland midfielder has scored four goals in four appearance for Jong Ajax.
