Africa-Press – Ghana. Kwesi Appiah impressed on his return to action for Crawley Town in their 2-1 home defeat to Bristol Rovers in the Football League Two.
The Ghana striker made an instant impact, showing the Crawley fans what they have been missing in his absence.
The 31-year-old forced a superb save from Belsham with header from Powell’s free kick.
The Ghana international was making his first appearance for the side in a while but suffered defeat at home.
Goals from Harry Anderson and Aaron Collins revived Bristol Rovers’ play-off hopes as they beat Crawley 2-1.
Substitute Jake Hessenthaler pulled a 69th-minute goal back for Crawley, who have now won only two of their last 13 home matches.
Anderson raced through on a pass from Antony Evans to give Rovers the lead after 41 minutes, slipping an angled shot under keeper Morris.
The Reds lived dangerously as Collins’ attempted lob went over before Elliot Anderson headed over.
Rovers extended their lead after a swift counter-attack in the 65th minute ended with Collins scoring his 11th goal in 21 games.
Fit-again Hessenthaler struck to make it 2-1 four minutes later, glancing in a corner, but the hosts failed to find an equaliser.
Kwesi has had loan spells at Aldershot, Yeovil, Cambridge United, Notts County and AFC Wimbledon.
Between his two loan stints at Cambridge, Appiah scored a remarkable 18 goals in 40 competitive appearances, also providing eight assists.
The Ghanaian has also scored 11 goals in 59 League One appearances for AFC Wimbledon, as well as making 12 Championship appearances, six for Crystal Palace, six for Reading.
Kwesi has also played in the Eliteserien, Norway’s top division, where he scored three times in twelve appearances for Viking Stavanger in 2017.
On an international basis Appiah has represented Ghana under Avram Grant, appearing and netting in the African Cup Of Nations.
