Africa-Press – Ghana. Irish-born Ghanaian centre-back James Abankwah has joined Italian serie A side Udinese.
The 18-year-old penned a four-year deal with the Zebras after ending his stay with Irish club St Patrick’s Athletic.
Abankwah will join his Udinese teammates in pre-season on July 4, 2022 . The teenager revealed his readiness for the new chapter of his career.
“It’s something I wanted to do myself. It would be nice to be able to speak another language,” he said.
“It will be very helpful and when the manager is speaking I’ll be able to interact and have a few words with him and my team-mates.”
Abankwah made ten appearances for St Patrick’s Athletic last season as they survived First Division football.
The Dublin-born is eligible to represent Ghana at international level through his parents heritage.
