Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghanaian Jamie Leweling could leave Greuther Furth at the end of the season as some Bundesliga clubs have shown serious interest in him, according to reports in Germany.

Furth are set to be relegated from the German top-flight but the youngster has been impressive and said clubs want to ensure that he doesn’t second-tier football next season.

The club earned more than 3 million euros last summer for Anton Stach, who switched to Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga. Greuther Fürth could achieve same amount or more with the potential sale of Jamie Leweling.

The 21-year-old striker has recommended himself for higher tasks with five goals and two assists, according to kicker some Bundesliga clubs are showing interest.

“It can happen. It’s not a threat, it’s confirmation of our work if there’s interest in our players,” says Fürth’s sporting director Rachid Azzouzi.

Leweling has Ghanaian roots and was invited by Charles Akonnor when he was in charge of the Black Stars, however, he turned down Ghana to continue playing for the German U-21 team.

Leweling has been a regular for the U21 team of European giants since rejecting Black Stars.

The Ghana Football Association however haven’t given up on the youngster and are in talks with people around him.
