Africa-Press – Ghana. The Global Media Foundation (GloMeF), a Sunyani-based anti-corruption, human rights and media advocacy organisation, has congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for earning recognition on the international stage.
President Mahama has been ranked fifth on the prestigious DEVEX ‘Power 50’ list, which highlights personalities shaping global development.
In a statement signed by Mr Raphael Godlove Ahenu, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GloMeF, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, the organisation described the ranking as a significant global endorsement of President Mahama’s leadership, influence and contributions to international development, diplomacy and democratic governance.
The statement said: “President Mahama’s inclusion and remarkable ranking as fifth on the DEVEX Power 50 list is a moment of immense pride for Ghana and Africa.”
It stated that DEVEX, recognised globally as an authority on development and power dynamics, had acknowledged the President’s impact on global affairs. The Power 50 list, it noted, recognises individuals who shape international development priorities, mobilise resources and influence global decision-making.
The statement stressed that the honour was “not accidental,” adding that President Mahama had consistently demonstrated visionary leadership in peacebuilding, climate action, democratic stability and inclusive development – values aligned with DEVEX’s assessment criteria.
It said President Mahama’s global standing continued to elevate Ghana’s profile and strengthen Africa’s voice in international governance. “Through his work and advocacy, Mahama has positioned Ghana as a credible and influential player in global conversations,” it added.
GloMeF described the recognition as an inspiration for young Africans and emerging leaders, saying it demonstrated that leadership rooted in service, integrity and vision could have global reach.
The organisation called on Ghanaians to celebrate the achievement as President Mahama continued to promote leadership that advanced accountability, human rights and sustainable development.
“However, this global honour comes with responsibility. It is a call to deepen our collective commitment to governance that truly serves the people and humanity at large,” the statement said.
GloMeF reaffirmed its dedication to supporting initiatives and leadership that promote democratic values, social justice and inclusive development in Ghana and beyond.
