Africa-Press – Ghana. Bogoso (W/R), January 30- Ghana Manganese Company Limited (GMCL) has donated items worth GH¢80,000.00 to support the upkeep of the Appiatse community.

The items ranged from, medical supplies, relief items, and construction materials such as bags of cement, packets of roofing sheets, bags of rice, blankets, and water tanks.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the presentation, Mr Wisdom Adjei Mensah, Social Responsibility and Standard Relations Manager of GMCL explained “We are here to commiserate with the entire Bogoso and Apiatse communities for the unfortunate incident that injured and displaced a lot of people”.

He indicated “We are offering our aid in the form of a donation to assist the government, institutions, and individuals to ensure stability in the lives of the affected people”.

Mr Adjei Mensah gave the assurance that GMCL would continue to support the victims who were adversely affected.

According to the Social Responsibility and Standard Relations Manager, “Some victims have been displaced, others were injured, properties were destroyed, and precious lives were lost.

I believe that as a mining company effort would be put in place to ensure we carry out our work safely so that communities would not be negatively impacted”.

The Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dr Isaac Dasmani, lauded GMCL for the aid and thanked them for putting smiles on the faces of the residents of Appiatse.
