Governing Council of CK Tedam University of Technology & Applied Science appoints new VC and Registrar

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Governing Council of the CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Science has appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Samson Abah Abagale as the Acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) and Deputy Registrar Mr Gilbert Ansoglenang as the Acting Registrar.

The Council in a statement signed by its chairman, Professor Gordon Awandare advised all staff to cooperate with them to ensure the smooth running of the university.

The new appointments come on the back of the order of perpetual injunction that was granted restraining Professor Eric Magnus Wilmot and Dr Vincent Ankamah-Lomotey, who until these recent appointments, were the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar respectively of the university, from holding themselves out as such.

The plaintiff, a resident of Navrongo, Joseph Pwoawuvi Weguri claimed among other things that the appointing authorities violated the public service laws of Ghana, especially Article 199 of the Constitution, 1992, by allowing the public officers to remain in full-term employment after they attained the age of compulsory retirement.

The High Court judge, Justice Charles Agyei Wilson in his ruling said “An order of perpetual injunction is hereby made restraining [Prof Wilmot and Dr Ankamah-Lomotey] from holding themselves out as Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the University.

“[Pro Wilmot and Dr Ankamah-Lomotey] are prohibited from taking any steps to perform any duties and functions on the appointed post forthwith.

“The University Governing Council shall nominate and appoint an interim management board for the general administration and management pending a fresh appointment of a Vice Chancellor and a Registrar to replace the retired officers.”
