Africa-Press – Ghana. Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah has announced the withdrawal of military protection for civilians and public officials.
He said the move forms part of the government’s reset agenda to restore discipline and accountability and aims to curb the misuse of military personnel for personal gain.
“As part of our Reset agenda to restore discipline and accountability, we’ve withdrawn military protection for civilians (including public officials, former ministers, businessmen, and women, among others) who are not entitled to it,” he stated on his facebook wall on Tuesday.
The Minister cautioned that any personnel found undertaking unauthorised guard duties would face serious consequences.
He called for public support to ensure a disciplined and equitable use of state security resources through collective responsibility.
“Let’s work together to promote a more disciplined and responsible use of our military resources,” he stated
