Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has been honoured for his exceptional support and contributions to the International Edition of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market.

The honour, which came during a Gala and Awards Night marking the close of the 10-day market and exhibition, was conferred by the Management of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market, led by its Manager, Mr. Adnan Mohammed, and Deputy Manager, Mr. Wango Abdul Karimu.

Mr. Kusi received a citation of honour in recognition of his pivotal role in enhancing the event’s visibility through strategic marketing and public relations initiatives, as well as fostering partnerships that elevated the international edition’s profile.

The 2025 International Edition of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market, held from 17th to 26th October, brought together artisans, designers, and creators from Ghana and across Africa to celebrate the continent’s creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage.

Participating countries included Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Niger, among others.

The event, on the theme: “From local hands to the global stage,” served as a platform promoting Ghanaian and African-made products while supporting small and medium-sized entrepreneurs to explore export opportunities.

Patrons, including locals, diasporans, diplomats, and tourists, enjoyed exhibitions of fashion, crafts, art, décor, and cuisine, alongside cultural performances and networking sessions.

The organisers commended Mr. Kusi for his consistent dedication to the promotion of arts, culture, and tourism in Ghana, noting that his contributions had significantly impacted the growth of the market since its inception.

Mr. Kusi, who expressed gratitude for the recognition, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Ghana’s creative and tourism sectors, describing the honour as “a motivation to continue advancing the cause of Ghanaian culture and craftsmanship on the global stage.”

A proud alumnus of Prempeh College, Mr. Kusi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (now UNIMAC-GIJ), and an MBA in Marketing from the Methodist University College Ghana.

He also holds a Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

With over a decade of service to the tourism industry, Mr. Kusi’s career has spanned key roles, including Board Secretary to the GTA Board of Directors (2010–2014), Special Assistant to the late CEO, Mr. Charles Osei Bonsu (2014–2017), Principal Corporate Affairs Officer (2019–2024), and currently, Deputy Director in charge of Corporate Affairs, a position he assumed in February 2025.

Mr. Kusi, widely respected for his Pan-African ideals and dedication to national development, continues to play an instrumental role in several national tourism committees and initiatives aimed at advancing Ghana’s image as a premier tourism destination.

The Accra Arts and Crafts Market, which has been held annually for the past eight years, introduced its international edition in 2024.

It continues to serve as a bridge between local artisans and global audiences, reinforcing Ghana’s reputation as a hub of African creativity and culture.
