Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will on Saturday, February 14, stage another edition of the Sheroes Women’s Table Tennis Tournament at the DG Hathiramani Sports Hall, bringing together the country’s top female players for competitive action.
The upcoming tournament follows a highly competitive earlier edition that produced quality matches and dramatic finishes, reflecting the steady growth and rising standards of women’s table tennis in Ghana.
With another opportunity to shine, players would be eager to make strong impressions on court, both in the quest for honours and in the bid to attract the attention of national selectors.
Defending champion Augustina Baidoo, who has won the Sheroes title in the last two editions, is expected to be a major attraction.
Her dramatic comeback victory in the most recent final has set a high benchmark, but she would be likely to face stiff competition from a determined field.
Contenders including Eva Adom-Amankwaa, Cynthia Kwabi, Joanita Borteye and Agbottah Hilda, all of whom impressed in the previous tournament, would be expected to return stronger as they seek to challenge Baidoo’s dominance and claim the title.
Beyond the chase for silverware, the Sheroes Tournament continues to serve an important technical purpose.
It provides the national technical team with a platform to observe, assess and select players as Ghana prepares for upcoming international assignments, including the World Table Tennis Championships in London.
Saturday’s competition at the DG Hathiramani Sports Hall would be expected to deliver another exciting display of skill, resilience and determination, as the Sheroes tournament maintains its role in promoting and advancing women’s table tennis in Ghana.
