Helicopter Tragedy: GIHOC Grieves with the Nation

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ghana Industrial Holdings Corporation (GIHOC) Distilleries Company Limited has joined the Government and People of Ghana in mourning the tragic loss of the eight victims of the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash.

Mr Jones Borteye Applerh, Chief Executive Officer, GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff, laid a wreath at the Ceremonial Garden of the Presidency in Accra, in honour of the eight victims of the helicopter tragedy.

GIHOC, in a statement, said these individuals were not only leaders in their respective fields but also dedicated servants of the Republic.

It noted that the sudden passing of the eight national heroes represented an immense loss to their families, colleagues, and the nation at large.

“The Board, Management, and the entire Staff of GIHOC extends their deepest condolences to the bereaved families, friends, the Government of Ghana, and all citizens affected by this tragedy,” the statement said.

“We recognise the invaluable contributions these men made to national development and public service, and we honour their commitment, courage, and sacrifice.

“In this difficult time, we stand in solidarity with the nation as we reflect on their legacy and the values they upheld. May their souls rest in perfect peace.”

The deceased include Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; and Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology and Member of Parliament for Tamale Central.

Others were Alhaji Mohammed Mumiru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr Samuel Sarpong, 1st Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Mr Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).

The rest were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, all of the Ghana Air Force.
