Africa-Press – Ghana. Police in a small Tuscan village are searching for the vandals, who hung Hitler-themed ornaments on the community’s Christmas tree.

“A serious incident has stained the festive season in Montemurlo,” the village north-west of Florence wrote on Facebook.

Unknown people had hung around a dozen red cardboard circles with Nazi images and the face of Adolf Hitler, on the Christmas tree in front of the town hall, it said.

“This is not a prank, I am deeply outraged,” said Mayor Simone Calamai in the same post. “Using pictures of Hitler as decorations for our Christmas tree is an insult to the whole community.”

An investigation has been launched, the post said, noting that there were numerous surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the town hall that police are now reviewing.

“There have never been any problems with right-wing extremist groups in Montemurlo,” a spokesperson for the village said on Tuesday when asked for comment by dpa.
