Africa-Press – Ghana. Hohoe United Football Club, a Hohoe-based football Club has secured a first-ever Ghana Premier League position after an impressive 3-1 win over Inter Allies in their epic match played at the Hohoe Stadium on Sunday.
The three goals came from skipper Safian Osman in the 10th minute, Faruk Mohammed in the 30th minute and Anass Ganiu sealing it with the third goal in the second half.
Inter Allies FC’s Oswald Ofori Attah gave his side a consoling goal during the third minute of the five-minute additional time, given by referee Rustum Senorgbe.
Hohoe United, by this feat, topped the 2024/2025 Access Bank Division One Zone Three League with 69 points from 29 matches winning 23, drawing four and losing three.
The Club has also booked a slot in next season’s Ghana Premiere League competition ahead of the final promotion spot to be decided through a playoff.
Mr John-Peter Amewu, former Railway Development Minister and the Chief Executive of the Club, said “To God be the glory! Hohoe United Football Club has made it to the Premier league, congratulations to us all.”
Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Member of Parliament for Hohoe Constituency described the win as historic, while in a Facebook post.
In attendance were Togbega Gabusu VII, Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area and some Divisional chiefs.
He congratulated the team for the victory and their qualification into the Premier League, which would take Hohoe to a different level.
Some elated soccer fans said sooner or later, Sundays in the jurisdiction would no longer be a dull day, as the qualification is an opportunity to view competitive football, right in Hohoe.
The victory sent spectators agog after the final whistle, the stadium turning into musical manifestation that lasted deep into the night.
