HRAC Unveils Braille Civic Empowerment Manual

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Human Rights Advocacy Centre (HRAC) has presented a braille version of its Civic Empowerment Training Manual to SightSavers Ghana as part of a new partnership to advance the rights of persons with disabilities.

The manual was developed with support from Crossroads International Canada.

The presentation occurred during a courtesy call by HRAC’s Executive Director, Ms. Modupe Anorkplim Nukunu, to SightSavers Ghana.

The Civic Empowerment Training Manual is designed to train and sensitize young leaders, senior high school students, and community leaders on the Affirmative Action Law, which was passed in September 2024 to break down barriers to women’s advancement in leadership.

The braille edition was created to ensure that persons with visual impairments can also access the content, which promotes equal opportunity, gender parity, and empowerment free from discrimination or undue influence.

Mr. Seth Anane Dapaah, Finance and Administration Manager for SightSavers Ghana, received the braille version and expressed gratitude to HRAC for the inclusive resource.

Mr. Mohammed Abdul Razak, Programmes Manager, reaffirmed SightSavers’ commitment to building stronger collaborations with HRAC to develop and implement impactful programmes for persons with disabilities.

Ms. Nukunu reiterated her optimism about future joint initiatives and stated that the partnership was an important step toward ensuring that all persons, regardless of disability, enjoy equal rights, opportunities, and dignity.
