Africa-Press – Ghana. Most Reverend Moise Messan Touho, Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Atakpamé in Togo, has called on Most Rev. Simon Kofi Appiah, the newly ordained Bishop of the Jasikan Catholic Diocese, to lead his flock with humility and a deep fear of God as the foundation for a successful episcopal ministry.
Speaking in an interview after the ordination ceremony held in Jasikan in the Oti Region, Bishop Touho emphasised that these virtues were essential for effective spiritual leadership and service to the Church.
He noted that Bishop Appiah’s maturity and pastoral experience distinguished him as a capable shepherd, expressing confidence in his ability to guide both clergy and lay faithful in the diocese.
“His track record speaks for itself. I have no doubt that he will live up to expectations and serve diligently,” Bishop Touho stated.
Bishop Touho, who was appointed by Pope Francis on October 26, 2022, and later ordained and installed as Bishop of the Atakpamé Diocese, which had been vacant since 2019, urged the new Bishop to remain steadfast in faith and committed to his mission.
He also encouraged him to justify the confidence placed in him by Pope Leo XIV, who appointed him to the position.
Bishop Touho encouraged the clergy and laity of the Jasikan Diocese to offer their full support and cooperation to Bishop Appiah to ensure unity and progress within the Church.
The ordination ceremony, which drew clergy, religious leaders, and congregants from across the region and beyond, marked a significant milestone in the growth of the Catholic Church in the Oti Region.
