I’m in bed with all NDC parliamentary aspirants in Ashanti Region – Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako has said his party would be the decider in who become the parliamentary candidates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in all the forty-seven (47) constituencies in the Ashanti region,Africa-press.com/ghana/ reports.

Chairman Wontumi has bragged that he has since the onset, being the brain behind the opposition party’s officers from the constituency to the national level, and even in the selection of Mr John Mahama as its flag bearer for the 2020 elections.

Speaking in an interview Okay FM monitored,Wontumi said his party has a keen interest in the upcoming primaries of the NDC slated for today  Saturday, August 24, and would not abate its quest to annex all the seats in the Ashanti region in what the party has dubbed, operation 2020.

He said the aim would only be achieved if the NPP is able to infiltrate the ranks of the NDC and influence the outcome of the poll in all the constituencies, so that it could push through with its agenda of making the Ashanti region a one party state for the NPP.

He says he “is bed with all the candidates who have popped up for the NDC primaries in the Ashanti region”, and would make sure they are well “schooled” to do the bidding of the NPP come 2020.

The NDC upcoming parliamentary primaries will be held in 157 constituencies across the country. 524 aspirants have been cleared to contest in the polls come Saturday, August 24, 2019, the party has announced.

The party also says it has put on hold elections at the Asawase and Ellembelle constituencies as well as three other constituencies due to petitions by some of the aspirants.

No elections would be held in 39 constituencies, because some incumbent members of parliament and aspirants are standing unopposed.
