Africa-Press – Ghana. Workers in Tokyo have made a pilgrimage to a famous shrine on the first working day of the new year, to ask the gods for good business.

The annual rush is so great that employees of some 2,500 companies booked their pilgrimage to the Kanda Myojin shrine near Tokyo’s banking and business districts of Otemachi and Marunouchi in advance, the daily Asahi Shimbun reported on Tuesday.

After far fewer companies than usual sent their employees to the Shinto shrine last year because of the coronavirus pandemic, the number will be back to about 10,000 this year by the end of January, the paper quoted a shrine employee as saying. Many visitors to the shrine turned up in suits and ties on Tuesday, the first day of work.
