Africa-Press – Ghana. Nii Adjetey Donkor, a sub-chief of Kotoku at Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality, has applied to be recruited into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
Nii Donkor, known in private life as Mr Abdullah Rashid, was spotted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) among applicants at the ongoing recruitment exercise at the Eastern Naval Base, in Tema Newtown, going through the process of enlistment into the GAF.
He told the GNA that he had joined the exercise as an ordinary Ghanaian who wanted to serve his country.
He explained that his decision would not affect his role in the community, as other chiefs would act in his absence if he qualified, adding that his choice was supported by his kinsmen and family.
Nii Donkor said the move would enable him to instil discipline in his community and serve his country better.
He urged other leaders to take advantage of such opportunities when necessary, noting that it would serve as an example to the people and contribute to the progress of both the community and the nation.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, the Chief of Defence Staff, has inspected the smooth running of the recruitment exercise at the Eastern Naval Base.
