Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Courage K. M. Nunekpeku, the Managing Director of the TDC Company Limited, has affirmed the company’s determination to provide 800 two-bedroom housing units at the Kpone Community 26 affordable housing by April 2026.
Mr Nunekpeku noted that this would bring the total to 1900 housing units at the enclave, revealing that for 19 years, over 1000 units were constructed for the first three phases.
“Phases one to three have already delivered more than 1,000 housing units, and this was done within 19 years. Phase four is on course to provide an additional 800 two-bedroom apartment units comprising 100 blocks together; the enclave would be hosting about 1900 housing,” he added.
He said this during a media engagement and tour of the project site, which is currently at various stages of completion.
The MD indicated that 36 Ghanaian contractors were on site to ensure that the housing units were completed on schedule, noting that they want to deliver on time, debunking the notion that government projects can delay unduly.
He said the needed materials and funding have been made available to the contractors to ensure that they meet the April 2026 target, in addition to ensuring that certificates raised by the contractors are honoured within two weeks.
He further stated that phase four would introduce modern elements such as green building technology and sustainable energy provisions, which is consistent with global best practice and expresses TDC’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
Mr Nunekpeku stated that the project was purposely built for middle-income earners and public sector workers who are central to Ghana’s national development, giving the assurance that management would ensure that the right people benefit from it when completed.
Touching on quality, he noted that they were balancing affordability in construction cost and have adopted cost-saving measures in procurement and design without compromising quality, while also broadening access to flexible payment arrangements that go beyond traditional mortgage and instalment payment plans.
During the tour of the site, he expressed satisfaction at the pace of work of most of the contractors while questioning the work delay of Bon Logistics Ghana Limited, who were among the first contractors to commence work six months ago but remained at the first-floor level.
