Africa-Press – Ghana. The Krachi West Municipal Assembly is set to prioritise social services and economic empowerment in 2026, as part of efforts to improve the quality of life of residents, Mr Prosper Kwaku Addo, the Municipal Chief Executive said.
Mr Addo made the disclosure in an interview, saying the municipality’s development focus for the year would centre on education, healthcare, potable water, youth development and job creation, stressing that these sectors remain critical to the well-being of the people.
He explained that the Assembly had already benefited from several government-backed infrastructure projects, which were gradually closing development gaps in the area.
These interventions were in line with the broader national development agenda being pursued under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.
Mr Addo revealed that one of the major economic projects in the pipeline was the construction of a 24-hour economy market, which was currently at the tender stage to select a suitable contractor.
He announced plans to begin the construction of a Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound at Yaborae, to enhance access to healthcare services, as well as new water projects to address the long-standing challenge of potable water in communities around the Volta Lake.
The MCE called on traditional authorities and residents to maintain peace and cooperate with the Assembly, noting that unity and stability were key ingredients for attracting development and ensuring the successful implementation of projects.
