Africa-Press – Ghana. Liverpool are still in discussion over the transfer plans of striker Divock Origi.
The Belgian has failed to cement his place in the team over the years and with his contract coming up in June, the club is not sure whether to cash on him now or add him a new deal before his time elapses.
With Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane all missing action this month due to their involvement in the African Cup of Nations, the Reds are short in the strike force and believe that Origi is an important player for them.
The player is currently valued at £10million and according to reports, Liverpool is not sure whether to cash on him or convince him to stay past this month as they wait for Mane and Salah to return.
The 26-year-old has five goals in 10 games this season despite featuring for just 393 minutes and the club believes he is an important player for the team.
Origi has been linked with a move to Serie A with three unnamed clubs said to be interested in his services. The player wants to boost his chances of making it to the Belgium World Cup team in the summer and that can only be achieved when he can play regularly at the club level.
Despite the interest, the player is keen to stay in the Premier League to prove his worth.
