Africa-Press – Ghana. The First Lady Mrs Lordina Mahama will take the global stage at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to deliver a keynote address at the Seventh Annual Prayer Service for Children.
A statement issued by the World Vision International Ghana said the high-level event would be held on Monday, 22 September, from 08:00–09:00 ET, at the Church Center for the United Nations, Tillman Chapel, New York.
It said the Annual Prayer Service, convened on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, is organised by World Vision International in partnership with leading global faith-based and humanitarian organisations.
It noted that this year’s theme: “A Moment of Hope,” would spotlight six dimensions of hope, compassion, resilience, purpose, joy, wisdom, and spiritual life at a time when the world is grappling with conflict, climate crises, and widening inequalities.
The statement said Mrs Mahama’s participation reflected her longstanding commitment to advancing the welfare and empowerment of children in Ghana and beyond.
It said through her advocacy and philanthropic work, she had championed access to healthcare, education, and social protection for vulnerable children, making her a respected voice in the fight to safeguard the future of young people.
The statement said she would join a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Reverend Andrew J. Morley, President and CEO, World Vision International and Mrs Cindy McCain, Executive Director, United Nations World Food Programme.
It said the Prayer Service would bring together world leaders, global partners, and faith leaders from diverse traditions to unite in prayer and reflection, urging world leaders to prioritise action that improves the lives of children most at risk.
The statement said the event would be livestreamed on YouTube, enabling global participation.
